The Death Valley Express has pulled into the station!

Who is Badwater Bill?

BILL LATTER (William B. Latter; born 14 July 1956) regularly runs and races long distances, having done numerous marathons and ultra-marathon distance runs. The numbers on a clock do not drive him; for Bill running is a metaphor of life – one he wishes to experience to the fullest. He has been on the long recovery road from a back injury that threatened to end his distance running and walking entirely and forever. For now he walks. He walks long, long distances. Starting on August 8, 2010, he will be attempting to run from Badwater, Death Valley to the summit of Mt. Whitney, and back again - a distance of nearly 300 miles. This has been Bill's dream for many years. August 8 for the start date has great meaning and provides strong inspiration for Bill. Twenty years ago, Bill's older brother Rick died from brain cancer. Rick was born on August 8th.
